I've been hearing that the Obama Administration has been spending a lot of energy trying to punch Fox News in the nose. I concur with those who say this is a demeaning and petty use of presidential power. But that Obama is using it at all suggests to me that it's the best he can come up with. After reading Charles Krauthammer on Obama's mediocrity, it wouldn't surprise me that such domestic spats come to be the tone as reality sinks in.
CK nails it right here, it's the kind of obvious explanation that the media hype and gushing over Obama's symbolism doesn't let people with short attention spans recognize.
Obama misread his mandate. He was elected six weeks after a financial collapse unlike any seen in 60 years; after eight years of a presidency which had tired the country; in the middle of two wars that made the country opposed to the Republican government that involved us in the wars; and against a completely inept opponent, John McCain. Nevertheless, Obama still only won by 7 points. But he thought it was a great sweeping mandate and he could implement his social democratic agenda.
Is Obama a socialist? Nah. He's a European-style Social Democrat. Fits him very well.
So I'm just saying that I am satisfied that I truly understand the sort of intentions of those who have voted for Barack Obama. In the main they are American Eurotrash, liberal folks who are by and large secular humanist (while I'm throwing out stereotypes) and the sort who have a gut wrenching distaste for their perception of Americans. Listen to an Obama supporter for a while and it won't take long for you to recognize the typical rantings of a Eurosnob. That we Americans are all overfed, greedy, warmongering prudes with our insufferable Bibles, SUVs and running shoes. So when we all get enlightened we'll become social democrats and chill for a century...
But there's a Right in this country that's hardly ready to shutup. In fact, they're so stirred up that they're RINO hunting. Looking for extreme populist conservatives who will not compromise. It's histrionics if you ask me, but they will gain footing when some inevitable nonsense backfires on the complicit majority of the Obama years. The problem is that they're very disorganized and don't have a program to convert the GOP. They're just frenetically bashing everything but the Constitution. That can't possibly work, which means they'll be taken over by a charismatic and our chances for Mitt will be dashed again.
I don't think I'm as skeptical as certain others are about this development. This meaning the extraordinary goings on in NY's 23rd district. And I don't think a radical third party is a bad idea, but something is going on on the Right that nobody can yet explain. Sounds like the People. And now that Obama has become more predictable, I think things are turning. The Right is not Fox nor Limbaugh. It's something unstereotypical, and it votes.
