I've always known that Leimert Park is the perfect place for a Borders Books & Music. One of these days Ruth Galanter or Mark Ridley-Thomas is going to pretend that they were the first person to think so and cut the ribbon. In the meantime all my homies who live up on the hill will drive to The Bridge which is basically where the money went. I have some sad thoughts occasionally about the direction my old neighborhood has gone with regard to the failure of aggregation, but there is some very good commercial news. That is that Starbucks has restored the Sakiba Lounge at the old Holiday Bowl. I haven't been there in a couple weeks, but it should be done about now.
It's interesting now that I think about it how things have worked out. I mean right there on Crenshaw, a dozen good sized businesses have opened up new shops. I'm prepared to say that Crenshaw is in about the best shape it has been since the car dealers left. In the meantime Bad Ito has put up some cool pictures & commentary.
