If there are any black conservatives who read The Huffington Post, please let me know.
Apparently, some chick named Hamsher, who's cute and cuddly with Ned Lamont's campaign posted a picture of Joe Lieberman photoshopped in blackface at that blog. She got busted from both ends, redacted the photo, and issued your standard 'the devil made me do it' non-apology. The devil in this case being Lieberman himself and all of us 'Rovian' right bloggers.
Tempest in a teapot and all that, right? Another one of those incredibly incestuous 6 hour blogospheric 'news cycles'. Fat chance anybody got to see the photo in question. So who is this Hamsher chick and why should we not take her apology seriously?
Jane Hamsher is a progressive blogger at firedoglake. She is also the producer of such films as Natural Born Killers, Permanent Midnight and From Hell and the author of the best-selling book Killer Instinct.
Natural Born Killers and From Hell are two of the most insidiously pornographic films ever to get an R rating from the MPAA. And in particular, From Hell is one of the worst films ever made. I happen to know about From Hell because I was invited to the special screening of it at one of the last drive-in theatres in LA up in Panorama City. It was a 'party movie', which is to say it was a film made with absolutely no artistically redeeming values in mind, but just as an entertainment for the director, actors and crew. I discovered that this kind of stuff goes on in Hollywood that night at the drive in premiere, which was itself, if I remember correctly, some kind of pajama costume party. In other words, imagine your worst nightmare of spoiled rich kids behaving idiotically over their ultimate in-joke, the 'creation' of a would-be cult movie, and you have an idea of where Hamsher is coming from.
She's got a lot to apologize for, not that she needs to be taken seriously.
NO WAIT WAIT WAIT.
I actually liked 'From Hell'. I'm confusing it with another movie with the word 'Hell' in it. The tagline had something to do with coffee. I swear to God this is true. Ignore all the stuff in blue. That movie I was thinking about was 'Straight to Hell'. Everything in blue is absolutely true it's just that the Hamsher chick had nothing to do with it.
