Two new items to the blog of Cobb.
Item One: Newstex
After a tiresome, lazy procrastination on my part, I finally filled out the proper forms for permission for the folks at Newstex to syndicate and republish my content. It's a non-exclusive and as far as I'm concerned, non-constraining arrangement to our mutual benefit. I'm pretty excited about it. It will keep my marginally more on my toes about proper attribution and fair use, but I've been pretty disciplined on that score for a while. Newstex are some of the folks behind Gawker, so I feel that I'm in good company. Also, the publisher lives in the horsey set country of Connecticut, so I feel something of an affinity in that direction as my great grandfather Charles Sparrow Bowen also lived and worked in that area.
Item Two: Research Notebooks
Everything that merits a series of posts, but not quite a category all to itself, will very well end up in one of my Google Notebooks. I'm right now publishing (a few of) them through the right sidebar in order to give folks a peek at some of the things that I find piquant as I scour various sources in informing my opinion. I expect at some point in the future Google will find a way to make these collaborative and grow them in the direction of something Wiki. At that point, given sufficient attraction, I may reopen Vision Circle. But in the meantime I think it's a great way to document things that happen over time whether or not they materialize into something postable. I think it's a very good way to track the candidates for 08.
