Sandra's Reprieve
It's true that I find Sandra Tsing Loh's voice to be exceedingly annoying, but I do give credit where credit is due. Her Loh Down on Science is part of what is becoming Uncle Mike's little distribution - my daily emails of interesting and kid-friendly URLs. Good on you Sandra.
Osama & Whitney Sitting In A Tree
You heard? No? Well you better ask somebody. It turns out that Osama Bin Laden seriously considered putting a contract out on Bobby Brown so that he could get Whitney and make her one of his wives. Now that's some serious jungle fever.
Spike's New NOLA Darling
Pops has me recording the Spike Lee documentary on Katrina. I'm not really looking forward to it considering what I've read. More pain and suffering blamed on politics. We'll see.
Save Ben Stein's Money
People are talking about what Ben Stein was talking about. Once
again he is crying plaintively 'Bueller? Anyone?' But Ferris Bueller
took the day off. In fact, he's generally indisposed. Perhaps better than anyone, Stein knows who among the privileged classes raise their children to be careless pleasure hounds. But I think when things get desparate enough, they'll fight.
George Speaks
For what it's worth, I'm not listening to George Bush much these days. I heard he had something to say yesterday but what it was , I know not and don't care much. McCain is collecting his goodies for 2008 and that's more interesting to me.
Second Fallujah
I've just gotten up to the part of 'Fiasco' which describes the second battle for Fallujah, the one I recall being rather piqued about when it happened. Ricks says it was quite a mission. Still, I believe that I have mischaracterized the insurgency in my politics up to now, so I'll recap Iraq sometime later this week. (I'm also spelling it with an 'h' now, so as to conform with search engines.)
