Dissolving the Compromised
If Abu Mazen dissolves the Hamas government in Palestine, what will he have left? It occurs to me that after the latest conflict between Hezbollah (Lebanon) and Israel that it really doesn't take much to compromise a weak government completely. It gives me pause in all manner of directions. But to the point of Palestine, I think he should because really, what does he have to lose? Wags are already suggesting that Fatah and Hamas are about to start killing each other on a bigger scale.

This is the funniest thing I've seen on the web in months, if not all year. There's hope for our culture yet.
Hands Off Waziristan No More
I sensed a bit of agitation several weeks ago as Waziristan made the news. I didn't realize this was the same deal that rather compromised our relationship with Pakistan that Democrats have been making noise about - vis a vis losing ground on that front. Well it seems there was a double whammy. Some Waziris evidently had a hand in a botched assassination attempt on Uncle Pervez and he smacked back. Incidently, this strike at a madrassa lays waste to the theory that AQ wasn't busy recruiting and training there, and just missed Ayman Zawahiri. If Musharraf had to purge ISI again, we may just be the best ally he has, Armitage included. What's the Democrat line on Pervez Musharraf? Any plans to leave him high and dry Ms Pelosi? This is the coolest databank on the web.
The Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing terrorism on U.S. soil or mitigating its effects. MIPT was established after the April 1995 bombing of the Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City, and it is funded through the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Grants and Training (G&T).
The United States Congress directed MIPT to conduct “research into the social and political causes and effects of terrorism” through our automated information systems and to “serve as a national point of contact for antiterrorism information sharing among Federal, State and local preparedness agencies, as well as private and public organizations dealing with these issues.” MIPT firmly believes that the accurate dissemination of knowledge on terrorism is a critical ingredient for combating terrorism. Serving the needs of emergency responders, counterterrorism practitioners, policymakers, and the public, MIPT offers access to a wealth of information resources including its knowledge base initiatives, its website, and its library collection.
MIPT manages two other knowledge bases – the Lessons Learned Information Sharing system and the Responder Knowledge Base.
