This sleepless evening, I am on an incredible rip through the web. Every once in a while I dig watching TLC or Discovery and now the History Channel with my laptop at the ready. I've discovered quite a few things. I will have to update Obscura.

1. Barack Obama's childhood friend just got out of prison.
2. Moses Cone's White Oak plant is the largest denim maker in the country.
3. A lot of big textile companies are very, very small.
4. All things considered, Eli Whitney probably should not be though of as a black hero.
5. A new fixed head color printer is going to take over the world.
6. Xerxes built a pontoon bridge over the Hellespont.
7. 'Gunny' is way more actor than Mack.
8. Tire companies are kicking butt in the market.
9. AMD is in the toilet.
10. The Islamic Republic of Iran looks pretty pathetic compared to its predecessors.
11. The BRC website is dead.
12. Tatjana Van Vark is still cooler than ever.
13. The Aztecs took tobacco enemas.
14. I didn't write nearly as much about Air America as I thought I did.
15. Houses in Chatsworth are still too expensive.
16. Disney makes upscale furniture.
17. You can still get Moms Mabley albums at Amazon.
18. It's very difficult to find out exactly what's wrong with Jim Cramer's right arm by using Google.

Those are the things I learned online. This is what I learned in real life today.

1. My boss doesn't know which projects I worked on last year.
2. Even people in Philly don't know the difference between a grinder, a hoagie and a sub.
3. My two oldest kids did well in the talent show last night.
4. My youngest daughter is going on a field trip tomorrow.
5. I forgot all about the wonders of Neutrogena products.
6. There is an interior decorator whose business is in a pink building on my walk to work.
7. My lottery tickets are worthless. I'm never buying another one.
8. I'm starting to love Cherry Vanilla Coke.
9. If you try to print an Analyzer report with all of the objects instead of just a print screen, it will hang your printer.
10. There's nothing more annoying than demoing for people who are actually mouse-illiterate.
11. My maid didn't leave me any new towels.
12. City National Bank is hiring.
13. So is Hitachi Consulting.
14. There are no numbers on the thermostat on my oven.
15. My buddy still wants to hang out to Germany this summer.
16. The Philly Police are cold-calling for charity solicitations.
17. The statement of work for a system I wrote two years ago is pretty damned good.

All in all a pretty good day. Now I should get some sleep.
