The Bank Job is an excellent meditation on information theory. Who knows what and when? As secrets come to light, who is affected and how do they react? Who knows the power of information and how do they use it? There is an excellent passage in this film where over the course of an hour (in film time) the blackmailed becomes the blackmailer. The difference is actual possession of information and understanding what it means.
Other than that, the pace and editing of this film was all off. As a complex film, it wasn't done nearly as well as Guy Ritchie might have, but it was a satisfying albeit somewhat more predictable film.
Statham plays something of a nice guy in the way he does. A ne'er do well with promise to keep to a pretty young girl. Not so much a fighting and action film here, and the intrigue is not handled with much more depth or aplomb than with the Oceans films. But adequate. A couple really good laughs, some decent suspense. I'd wait for the DVD or the downloads.
