Well it looks like McCain has blinked.
On my way out the door I wanted to check any last minute news and Google found 'Hot Chicks Dig Obama'. So I clicked around and I can see that the video over which I was going to get a good chuckle has disappeared. Hmm.
The Diggiest blog to find the clip put it in a line of racist appeals as long as your arm, or FOUR HUNDRED YEARS OF OPPRESSION, which ever is longer. But alas the point can't be made. In a rabid conspiracy, the butt boys at YouTube have made this video an un-video. It has been confiscated in a puff of Orwellian smoke. Awww.
I was hoping to counterpunch on the silliness of this, reminiscing as I am about the extent to which a screaming Cramer is now considering himself to be a truth-teller of the highest order. Was he right about Bear Stearns or not? Who cares, he was TELLING THE TRUTH THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO HEAR. And so gets props in this semiotic swamp of what Green Day calls Idiot America. I'm not conceding Green Day's point, mind you, but we do have our share, and we somehow manage to respect their sensitivities at our own risk.
Bottom line. The only people who aren't inevitably offensive aren't people, which is why Google is the most trusted man in America. Except now, Google can only point to where the video used to be.
