Through no choice of my own, I work for an Indian company. The company I work for was acquired by a company that was acquired by an Indian company. However, my company Rolta, is not your typical Indian IT company. Rather, I have been explaining it as the Perot Systems of India. But it's that and more, it's a global engineering services company. If you're going to build a large power plant, Rolta makes for a good partner.
Here's the news:
With an emphatic vote Wednesday, the US Senate assured that America will take part in India's $100 billion nuclear-energy sweepstakes.
The 86-to-13 vote to resume civilian nuclear trade with India for the first time since 1974 is a signature diplomatic achievement for the Bush administration, cementing ties with a nation seen as a counterweight to China.
But it is also a major piece of business. In 20 years, India aims to increase its nuclear power 10-fold, and will rely on international businesses to do it.
This is the excellent news we've been waiting for. It unlocks a bonanza of energy business.
