I haven't read all of the details, but apparently some reprobate from among the 'baggers has offended one step beyond whatever the center of gravity of that amorphous organization is. I think I can reasonably say (OK I read it, big whoop) that Mark Williams' satire is more of the same - which is to say stuff that's not PC that dainty people cannot stomach. Yes it is. It is little more than another entry is the cliche'd bag of rhetoric in the trope of Black Democrats Plantation Mentality. And so now we are shocked, shocked that some WHITE man has the nerve to utter such words.
I don't expect, in all seriousness, to get any satisfaction from whatever arises from this tempest. But it occurs to me these days, as I just wrote in Theft and Failure, that there is an absence of conviction at the top. So looking for that it is my inclination, and snarky duty to ask, where was the President while all this Racist Tea Partying was going on? Why did he not use his tremendous power, intellect and sensitivity to stop this train wreck? Where indeed are the President's statements about the Tea Party, and why haven't I heard them?
Mark Williams' letter doesn't offend me, nor do I find it particularly funny. So if Mark Williams needs my advice, I would have him go head to head in a debate with the head accuser under the supervision of Brian Lamb. In the meanwhile whichever Tea Party excoriated his Tea Party as the new Racist Tea Party has done the dainty apology properly and it now must be accepted by those who demanded that apology and that hunky dory Tea Party will continue to do whatever it is they do. Who knows, maybe they'll get an Image Award. The evil Racist Tea Party of Mark Williams will thus become the official white supremacist Tea Party that dares speak without reverence to the Coloreds - I mean not real black Americans, but the ones who just wrote that letter to Abe Lincoln. Such drama! As somebody else recently said, maybe we can expect somebody to say something about the Nation of Islam too. Wouldn't that be a blow for justice!?
So I will watch and listen for one signal above all this foolishness and that is the extent to which the Man in the Oval Office makes some official remark. After all, if a black president can't stop this kind of talk, maybe we should get the kind of dictator who can!
