I got some really great Christmas gifts.
First and foremost, I got myself a new watch. It's a Fossil but it looks very sweet. I seem to never get myself right when it comes to watches and martial arts. It's complicated, but I'me very happy with this one, and I deserve jewelry, finally.
Secondly, I got Ella Fitzgerald's box set. Four CDs and 77 cuts. It's just a miracle. I seem to recall getting into it about conservative fantasies about the 'good old days', well now I've got all the evidence I need. What Ella Fitzgerald did in 1962 singing songs from then back to the 20s is all the good old days anybody needs to know.
Thirdly, I got the Twain book. Haven't started that bad boy, I've been finishing off Harry Dresden (#6). Speaking of reading, I did finish Bush's Decision Points. There was very little in it that surprised me. Bush was pretty much as transparent a president as we have ever had, and that is what I've always like about him. In the same way that I was ultimately disappointed by Colin Powell, I was disappointed by Bush. There are just things that don't intrigue him, and maybe that's the kind of man that needs to run things - one who is not curious for curiosity's sake. Time will tell - I mean when I read about Romans, none of them seem particularly complex, with the exception of Constantine of course, but that's another story. I also did finish the ancients part of Will Durant.
My favorite Christmas present was Apple TV.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time telling you how great it is. It's as great as an iPhone is great and it finally does what I've wanted my XBox to do, my Iomega NAS to do, and my Orb server to do, and XBMC to do, and Boxee to do, none of which did enough right. Apple does it again. Apple TV is really all that. If there's one flaw, it's that it doesn't do 1080p, and when you come out of it and watch broadcast HiDef, you really notice it. I'd also wish it did Picasa, but that will probably never happen. Still, it has been enough for me to reawaken my Flickr account. It's that good.
My trip to NYC was very cool, glad to meet the people I met and family I haven't seen. Glad to be able to love NYC for a few days and then get the hell out. I should have had a better dinner at least one of those nights, but the whole thing was a spur of the moment deal. That was a good present to myself as well.

That's all.
