Just in time for election season, exCIA officials out themselves to call Obama a blabbermouth and tell him and his administration the STFU. Brings back echoes of the Ulsterman Conspiracy and the headaches of Leon Panetta. Here follows the cheesy video.
What's interesting is the extent to which we must speculate that the US divulging responsibility in the STUXNET attacks on Iran were or were not violating OPSEC. I happen to be in political favor of that attack, but there may be some way (even for the exceptions of cyberwar) that the reveal compromises.
It seems to me that upon a moment's reflection that there must be laws in place to keep what is actually secret secret. Leaks are either prosecutable or not, and who will investigate but Congress? So ultimately this is a politcal vote of no confidence for many in the intel business. It's not the first time I've heard complaints about naming SEAL Team Six, for example. And yes we did have a whole lot of Hollywood SEAL fiction last year. I suspect that the number and designations of the teams must have changed in order to let that amount of info out, but if you don't know and you don't trust Obama.. These are the military professionals, not professional hacks and flacks.
