What crazy freaking fortnights.
It was just last month when I had to take the Spousal Unit down to the hospital for a fairly serious procedure. Colonoscopy. Whe was knocked out for this, and I had to sit in the waiting room and stew. Results all good. Phew. Three weeks ago, Pops had all the signs of a relapse of prostate cancer. But that turned out to be the side effect of his original radiation therapy. Ok. That's two bullets dodged. Then over the weekend, Doc got slammed with a virus that had him cramping and puking like he swallowed ten bad oysters. He had to be hospitalized overnight while they scratched their heads to figure out what it was. Then half the people in his immediate family got it. Now they're OK. Three bullets. Whoosh whoosh, whoosh! Then my mother finds her phone dead, is short on cash and it's about snow time in South Dakota. That's all I need to hear is that she let the heating go out and we have a momsicle. But now she's ok. Still, her Facebook account is spamming me.
Then (horrors) I dropped my iPhone.
But then Boy calls me last night and tells me that he sprained his ankle doing a double back flip in gymnastics. Why is he taking gymnastics? Because he was a band geek in high school and now he wants to make up for it by being a fitness geek in college. So he's in gymnastics, kickboxing, volleyball and fencing. Oh yeah and English and Math. Well, he'll be studying now, because that's not a sprain, it's a fracture. Wonderful. Now I have to find an orthopedic surgeon... hey wait, my cousin in Arizona is.. in Arizona. He needs to get minor surgery within a few days. Let's see, how much is *this* going to cost me? Hmm...
I'm going to resist a political rant here, because nobody really knows how much it costs to fix a broken leg. But I'll let you know on the dowstroke. In the meantime I'll be watching fail videos and using a micrometer to measure the thickness of the skin on my teeth. Keeping my head above water. Making a way when I can.
