Imagine that you were Borges and were dreaming a world into existence. Well if you were Borges, you would be delightful, humble and polite. Absentminded in the kindest way. But you're not Borges, and the world you are dreaming of is closer to Hell. Hell is in America now, because we are Americans and we are a bit too open to interpretation. Americans are dreaming up a zombie apocalypse world. It's not pleasant. And it's going to get real bloody I think.
It's going to be Americans against Americans as far as anybody reasonable is concerned, and the end result will be a chastened America. But you and I are a little bit too close to the fight to see it that way. At the moment I'm listening to 'Us and Them' by Pink Floyd. Odd that. I don't really know the words, but I know it's a good song. Compelling even. I'm going to try and be reasonable but poke my toe into things.
What I think is going to happen within the next year or so is that the silly nonsense that has passed for political activism is going to step its lard ass onto a bridge too far. And those fantastic resist plans are going to meet the enemy in the streets and they are going to be shocked. Moreover, they are going to be shot dead. And a city or two will burn and people are going to stop and think twice about leaving home. In other words, some unforgivable deeds are going to go down. The parades well end. The marches will get more militant. The riots will be real. There will be no head of the snake; there will only be President Donald Trump.
What this means is that the Democrat party will implode and find no leadership from which to draw down the anger in the streets. It will be the cops vs the mobs, and the mobs will lose because they will have no political leadership whatsoever. I don't think that those who are lining up to bring their tweets to the streets understand how far out in the cold they will be left. I could only hope that the mess will happen on or near a liberal university so that fingers can be pointed to that sort of ideological radicalism. After all, it is the failure of the proper teaching of the Humanities that is at the root of this closing of the American mind.
Sad.
