The term ‘white privilege’ is so powerful and consequently so pathetically useless and subversively dangerous, because it is so stupefyingly broad.
It would be much more useful and accurate to say, ‘trustworthy, experienced, educated, attractive, overachieving, affluent, confident, intelligent, social, conscientious, tall, healthy privilege’ and then everybody would say, duh that’s obvious. Instead, you just use a racial stereotype and say well all that is what ‘white’ means, (and 'black' means the opposite). Then it would be completely and totally clear that the use of the term ‘white privilege’ is based on a theory of race. That’s the racial profile.
Those listed are some of the virtues of our society. They are what we want to be. Of course people who demonstrate such virtues are privileged in our society. That’s the whole point of having a society. Society gives human experience value and meaning. And of course racists want race to have value and meaning, which is why they want you to say ‘white’ and ‘black’ instead of talking about virtue and vice.
If you believe in individualism, then you must judge individual character and you must discriminate based on the virtues and vices individuals demonstrate. The more you use racial concepts and stereotypes, the more you empower racists to define value and meaning in our society towards race and away from individual character.
